Roski School of Fine Arts Supplemental Application, including:
- Supplemental Application (http://finearts.usc.edu/application/BFA_application.pdf)
- Personal Statement
In addition to the USC essays, USC Roski School of Fine Arts applicants must submit a separate personal statement along with their supplemental application. This personal statement should reflect the applicant's individuality and explain why he or she would like to study art at USC. This statement will be read by the studio faculty admissions committee as measure of the applicant's creativity, intelligence, self-awareness, determination and vision. There is no standard format, length, or "correct answer" for the statement, but it should give the committee a sense of the applicant's long-term goals, artistic ambitions and knowledge of the world.
- Portfolio
All students must submit a portfolio of 10-15 slides in a clear slide sheet, each slide properly labeled with name, date, title and dimensions. A CD with scanned images (jpegs) on PowerPoint is an alternative to the slide portfolio. An identification list should accompany the portfolio. The portfolio should represent the student's expertise in art, in a variety of media or in a single area. It should consist of recent work (in the last two years) either in-class projects or work done on your own. Please do not submit renderings that have been copied from media images. Technical directions for compiling a slide portfolio are found here.
- Letters of Recommendation
For transfer students only, a minimum of two letters of recommendation from former instructors is required. Letters should be addressed to the USC Roski School of Fine Arts Admission Committee and sent directly to the USC Roski School of Fine Arts. Freshmen applicants do NOT need to submit letters of recommendation.
Send the above materials (Fine Arts supplemental application, personal statement, portfolio and letters of recommendation) to: USC Roski School of Fine Arts Watt Hall 104 University Park Los Angeles, CA 90089-0292
Important: It is the applicant's responsibility to make sure all required materials have been received by the appropriate offices by the deadline. An application will not be evaluated by the Fine Arts admission committee if any of the required application materials are missing. Applicants are encouraged to make copies for their files and to send all material via certified or registered mail. It is recommended that each student verify the processing of his or her file by phone or correspondence with the appropriate office listed below.
