USC Roski School of Fine Arts MPAS Teaching Assistantships
Awarded to a continuing full-time student in the MPAS program, this is a full tuition remission (up to 8 units per semester) teaching assistantship, and includes a monthly stipend. Classroom assignments in the Roski School of Fine Arts may include the undergraduate public art history course and research related to the field. Teaching Assistants work an average of 10 hours per week on campus and this annual award is competitive for continuing full-time MPAS program students.
Spinner Avoda Research Fellowship This award is a distinction within the MPAS program for students interested in applying their community-based practice in cultural organizations to Jewish community art programming, administration, advocacy and educational outreach. The Spinner Avoda Research Fellowship is a full tuition remission (up to 8 units per semester) and stipend award for the complete two-year, 32-unit MPAS degree, or 32 units (over 2 years) towards the MPAS portion of the MPAS/MPL or MPAS/MA degree. The Spinner Avoda Research Fellow will direct elective coursework towards arts-based cultural engagement. The Fellow will conduct original research with an emphasis on Jewish community and culture. The Spinner Avoda Research Fellowship internship will involve a placement in an arts or cultural organization and the thesis will be focused on special topic relevant to the field. Coursework is completed at USC and in collaboration with Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion, Los Angeles.
George and Marion Blumenthal Research Scholarships
The George and Marion Blumenthal Scholarships are awarded annually for demonstrated merit in community arts leadership. This scholarship is a varying tuition remission scholarship presented to both incoming and continuing MPAS program students. Recipients will demonstrate leadership in community-based cultural arts and a desire to return to the community after graduation for career development.
Kim Baer Public Art Studies Scholarship
As an alumnus of USC and the PAS program, Kim Baer's generous support for incoming MPAS graduate students is focused on a unique student who combines a high cumulative undergraduate GPA with demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to broad based public art programming. This annual tuition remission award supports the degree program's strength as an interdisciplinary public art curriculum.
Majestic Foundation Public Art Studies Scholarship
The Majestic Foundation Public Art Studies Scholarship recognizes professionals who are returning to the academic environment. Special consideration for this award is a demonstrated commitment to develop, expand or renew a career path in the field of public art.
MPAS Director's Awards The MPAS Director's awards are annually considered for incoming and continuing students. All Director's awards are varying amounts from $2500 to $5000 annual tuition remission. Criteria for Director's awards include maintaining a high GPA, demonstrating arts advocacy and leadership, a fine arts and art history focus, and a unique, related interdisciplinary background.
National Recruitment Awards
The MPAS program's National Recruitment Awards are annual tuition remission awards available for incoming students relocating from outside the Southern California area. With a demonstrated need and commitment to full-time student status in the MPAS program, incoming MPAS students may apply for limited National Recruitment Awards through the program.
Readership Awards
Tuition remission readership awards are designed to apply the graduate student's skills in the educational environment without specific teaching assistant responsibilities. These readerships are available for MPAS and MFA students in the USC Roski School of Fine Arts and the MPAS program. Awards are determined by enrollment in undergraduate courses and faculty requests. Readerships are available for both incoming and continuing students as appropriate.
Kathleen Neely Macomber Travel Award The Kathleen Neely Macomber Travel Award is awarded to outstanding undergraduate and graduate students in the USC Gayle Garner Roski School of Fine Arts. Selected through competition, the prize recipients will receive funds to support a proposed project involving research-based travel as well as production costs for an exhibition or presentation of the resulting work.
Four prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the Dean of the School of Fine Arts in consultation with the School's faculty: two to undergraduate (BA or BFA eligible) students, one to an MFA student and one to an MPAS (including all dual degrees) student. The prize will be recognized at the Annual Student Exhibition and Awards Ceremony for the USC Gayle Garner Roski School of Fine Arts, held at the end of the spring semester at the Fisher Gallery (undergraduate) or Gayle and Ed Roski MFA Gallery (graduate). Requires a separate application process. Currently enrolled students are eligible to apply.
