Stories of Work & Survival, 2007 Public + Artist Project by artist Suzanne Lacy http://www.suzannelacy.com/
In conjunction with WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution, artist Suzanne Lacy created a Public + Artist project that builds upon the legacy of feminist art and activism, fostering communication between women to improve their social conditions. Continuing the artist' ongoing engagement with feminism and consciousness-raising art performances, the project emerges form the premise that the silence surrounding women's private lives continues to have public consequences. http://moca.org/wack/
Under the leadership of artist Suzanne Lacy and Moca's Education Staff, Suzanne Isken and Denise Grey, USC Public Art Studies Graduate Students participated as community leaders to prepare and organzie fourteen groups of Los Angeles women from a wide range of work environments and neighborhoods for the opening sound/ipod installation and dinner party event. The experience proved to be invaluable for the students who participated, gaining and buiidling skills in leadership, community organizing, project management and production.
