Painting & Drawing

The Painting and Drawing area emphasizes diversity in faculty, curriculum and teaching methods. An excellent full-time faculty is complemented by an adjunct faulty drawn from the Los Angeles area's rich and productive community of practicing professional artists, presenting the student with a wide variety of artistic expertise and expression. Beginning and intermediate painting and drawing courses, life drawing and drawing for animators are taught in a straight-forward, hands-on manner that stresses skill improvement, understanding media and visual fundamentals. Learning to visualize and conceptualize is at the heart of all courses from beginning to advanced. Our goal is to bring each student to a level of ability and creative self-awareness that allows these concepts and visions to be executed.

Advanced courses in painting and drawing  and narrative drawing provide for greater individual instruction within each course and a stronger emphasis on critical dialogue involving the class as a whole, as well as small groups and the instructor.
