The theory & criticism area provides students with a comprehensive critical framework through which they can understand the important aesthetic theories and practices of 20th Century visual culture. Through lectures, discussions, and writing assignments, students gain an advanced understanding of the dominant cultural and aesthetic concerns of the present period, as well as the necessary theoretical tools to support their own studio or design practices.
